Free or Low-Cost Health Care for Kids
Every parent wants desperately to provide for their children.
One of a parent’s worst nightmares is for some sickness
or accident to befall their child and they won’t have
the resources to make things better.
There is no need for parents to suffer that particular nightmare
any longer. Today every single state has an insurance program
for infants, children and teens that either is free to parents
or is available for a nominal sum each month.
It doesn’t matter if one or both parents are working
and it doesn’t matter what the immigration status of
the parents or the children are, each state has a program
for helping infants, children and teens stay healthy.
Programs differ slightly from one state to the next, so it
is important for you to check the exact qualifications for
your particular state, but in most states children are covered
from birth until their 19th birthday, and in most states a
family of four can earn up to approximately $34,000 a year
and children are still eligible.
In many states you must reregister your child for the program
every 6 months to 1 year, but as long as your child is eligible
your child will remain on the program until his or her 19th
birthday.
Once your infant, child or teen has registered in the program,
the program provides for routine and needed doctor’s
visits, immunizations, prescription medications (some programs
require that generic medications be prescribed if they are
available), hospital stays, diagnostic testing, X-rays, lab
work and much more. Most states cover the cost of eye care,
dental care and most medical equipment.
This program is not a welfare program. It is in everyone’s
best interest to see to it that all children, especially school-aged
children, get prerequisite shots and treatments for such things
as ear infections and other communicable diseases. It has
also been proven that children who receive preventative care
early on in life are more likely to suffer fewer illnesses
later in life.
